- The gap is most likely the lack of knowledge of his audience not knowing the difference between speech community and discourse community. I believe a lot of people understand that there is a separation of social standards when it comes to people who think that a social group is important to be a part of and/or that it’s important to be in a discourse group that is important when it comes to hiring somebody with a specific skill.
- It produces information of the “why” this happens and how people in these different groups come to realize just where they belong when it comes to these different community groups.
- Someone who may be a grad student and or a linguist.
- It can create kind of a bias in the real world between ethic, social groups, work groups, etc. It may create separation and stereotypes.
