CL 2/6

  1. The gap is most likely the lack of knowledge of his audience not knowing the difference between speech community and discourse community. I believe a lot of people understand that there is a separation of social standards when it comes to people who think that a social group is important to be a part of and/or that it’s important to be in a discourse group that is important when it comes to hiring somebody with a specific skill.
  2. It produces information of the “why” this happens and how people in these different groups come to realize just where they belong when it comes to these different community groups.
  3. Someone who may be a grad student and or a linguist.
  4. It can create kind of a bias in the real world between ethic, social groups, work groups, etc. It may create separation and stereotypes.
